If you don't understand the specific limits of the Free Tier, you might accidentally leave a resource running and receive a massive unexpected bill at the end of the month!
Tutorial Overview
In this tutorial, you will learn the three different categories of the AWS Free Tier:
- Always Free
- 12 Months Free
- Short-Term Trials
The 3 Types of Free Tier Offers
- Always Free: These offers do not expire as long as your AWS account is active. For example, AWS Lambda gives you 1,000,000 free requests every single month, forever. Amazon DynamoDB gives you 25 GB of storage free, forever.
- 12 Months Free: These offers are only available for the first 12 months after you create your AWS account. For example, you get 750 hours per month of a
t2.microEC2 instance, and 5 GB of standard Amazon S3 storage free for your first year. - Trials: Short-term free trials for specific premium services starting from the date you activate a particular service. For example, Amazon SageMaker offers a 2-month free trial to let you experiment with Machine Learning.
